Recent festivities around Seoul

May 12, 2011

Last week was filled with many special days and activities.  I took my camera around to document.

Last Thursday was “Sports Day” at school.  The students had been practicing really hard for this special event.   Strangely enough, the day was filled with more choreographed dances than actual sport-like activities. Oh, Korea.

It was also Buddha’s Birthday on May 10th.  Happy 2500+ years Buddha!  I went to the Jogyesa Temple to give my regards to Buddha and witness the celebration.  Thousands of lanterns were hung above the temple grounds, along with other large lantern displays.

Thank you Sports Day, Children’s Day and Buddha for all the easy days at work and free days off 🙂
